MEET JULIE NORTON
I was born and raised in Boring, Oregon. I received my early education at public schools, including Deep Creek Elementary School, Damascus Middle School, and Sam Barlow High School (a Division IV-A, top tier program). While attending high school, I was active in music and athletics. Through music, I received an opportunity to travel to Europe for two summers as an ambassador of music representing the state of Oregon.
After high school, I moved to Seattle, Washington to attend the University of Washington (UW). As a freshman, I was selected for admission into the prestigious business program. In addition to academic endeavors, I continued to be active in music, including participating in the Husky Marching Band. My band experience was highlighted by a trip to the 2001 Rose Bowl. I graduated from the UW in 2003 with a B.A. in Business Administration and Finance.

During my senior year at the UW, I realized I had a passion for continued learning and critical thinking. As a result, I elected to pursue a law degree. I attended Seattle University School of Law, and successfully obtained a juris doctorate (law degree), graduating with honors, in 2006.
I met my husband, Brad Norton, while at the UW. Brad is a 3rd generation Wenatchee native and attended Wenatchee public schools. It only took one visit to his “hometown” to fall in love with the Wenatchee valley and decide to build a future here.

After graduating law school, we moved to Wenatchee so I could start my law practice at the firm of Ogden Murphy Wallace, PLLC (OMW). I’ve been practicing with OMW for 15 years, and have also become an owner or member. My law practice include representation of government agencies, labor and employment law, and real estate and development. My representation of government entities has enabled me to have a strong understanding of district operations as a public agency.
Our family is dedicated to public service and invested in the Wenatchee School District. My husband, Brad, is a Chelan County Sheriff’s Deputy and works the K-9 unit and SWAT Team. We have three children in the Wenatchee school district, and are committed to ensuring they receive quality education and experiences to prepare for life after school. Our family is extremely active in sports and events in the community. Activities include soccer, baseball, swimming, camping/fishing, raising livestock (4-H), and travel. I was appointed to the Wenatchee school board in January 2020. During my tenure, I have made it a priority to listen to our students, families/advocates, and staff and use their feedback to advocate for improved access to educational opportunities and improved quality of education for each student. In addition to serving on the school board, I currently serve on three other nonprofit boards that benefit families and students, including the Wenatchee Valley YMCA, Wenatchee Youth Sports Foundation, and the Arena Youth Enrichment Fund. |
